Formed in 2008, Cyberhawk uses UAVs to conduct close up inspections of live and difficult to reach structures. The company’s world-class solution for inspection allows wind turbine operators to see a level of detail like never before, transforming inspection and asset management in the renewables operation and maintenance (O&M) sector.

The benefits of using UAVs for data capture in this sector are substantial. Safety is significantly improved by minimising the need to work at height, inspection speed is 3 to 4 times faster than rope access and results are delivered in both an industry-standard report format and through iHawk, Cyberhawk’s cloud-based software, which is pioneering the conversion of drone-captured data into power asset information.

iHawk enables clients to see the position of an entire windfarm at a glance, with clear traffic light colour status for each area of the blade, and the ability to drill into the photographic evidence behind each defect classification. iHawk also enables users to select findings from a schematic view of the blade and to intuitively view all images, including those which do not show defects, sorted by height and by blade edge or side. This comprehensive approach ensures that a full record of each asset is available and facilitates year-on-year comparison.

Cyberhawk operates in the renewables sector using UAVs to survey the topography of potential wind farms and inspect offshore met mast structures. The company also delivers basic UAVs inspection for wind turbines, completing the first ever UAVs wind turbine inspection in 2010.
